Bee Group News to date . . .

Youlgrave Bee Group began after a meeting in the Farmyard Inn last November. Since then the group has been through three evenings of intensive bee course and we have cleared and prepared the apiary site. The group has put in a lot of effort to clear an almost derelict allotment site, put in fencing and erect a superb shed. We are all ready to go now, just awaiting the bees and the hives - both on order.
Many thanks are due to all those who have worked so hard over the months. It is hoped that one day you will be repaid in honey as well as feeling virtuous.
But it's not all about the keeping of bees. Youlgrave Bee Group want to encourage the growing of bee friendly plants. To that end we have started a bee count project - see other page on this blog - and write regularly in the village Bugle about plants. Could be called a Bee-Friending scheme?

Jeni.
